I was born in Pietermaritzburg in 1998 and grew up in Johannesburg. After the loss of my father, my brothers and I were sent to boarding school in Wartburg. It was there, at the age of 14, that I first picked up a guitar and began to find my voice. Music became my way through.
During my matric year, I started gaining real insight into the music industry, experiences that helped shape my direction and commitment to the craft. In 2018, I embarked on my first tour across South Africa and spent the following years working as a solo artist, growing steadily as both a songwriter and performer.
In 2024, I founded Bronze Steel, a band born from everything I’ve lived and learned. The name is a tribute to my father, Rohn Jubber, who played saxophone for the South African band The In Crowd. His spirit and musicianship live on through this project and through every song we write and share.
My musical journey began on drums but neighborhood noise didn’t quite match my enthusiasm. Then came a moment of destiny — I picked up a bass guitar at a friend’s house and found I couldn’t put it down.
Originally from Zimbabwe and raised in Johannesburg, I made my way to Cape Town, where I connected with Bronze Steel. For me, being in a band goes beyond playing notes. It’s about creating harmony through structure and trust. I thrive in those moments when the band locks into the zone together, each musician syncing perfectly — a feeling I would describe as almost magical.
Outside the studio, I’m known for my wild stories and knack for adventure. Once, I found myself hauled before a BBC production team, facing the threat of a lawsuit — a memory I can now laugh about. And there’s the infamous time I was caught mid relief, face to face with two rhinos in a game reserve. I’ve learned to embrace life’s unexpected twists and let instinct lead me wherever it may.
When I’m not setting the groove or finding myself in surprising situations, I draw inspiration from my musical hero, John Paul Jones. Through Bronze Steel, I aim to bring heart to every performance and give the band a foundation that’s as solid as it is unforgettable.

(Idk what to say in my bio)

Bronze Steel was formed in January 2024 through shared songs, late night rehearsals, and a deep belief in making music that matters. From day one, the band has been about soul, honesty, and the kind of passion you can’t fake. We’re a group of people who came together not for fame or recognition, but because it's who we are.
We honour the original line-up that helped bring Bronze Steel to life:
Jennifer Paddock (keys), whose songwriting brought beauty and depth to our earliest music; Ryan Eberhardt (drums), who laid down the heartbeat of our sound with steady commitment; Alistair Brooke (rhythm guitar), whose songwriting and unique rap verses added grit and truth; and Steven Jacobson (drums), who brought drive and energy into the rhythm section. Every one of them poured their hearts into this project, and their presence still echoes through our music today.
Bronze Steel isn’t just a band it’s a team, a family, and a shared vision. Everyone who’s been part of it gave it their all, and that spirit lives on.
Today, Bronze Steel is fronted by Chadwick Jubber (lead vocals, guitar) and Barry Geer (bass), carrying forward what we built together. Our sound blends soul and rock, shaped by real life and driven by a fire to make music that’s honest, raw, and alive.
